Why Townsville?

Townsville is actually made up of two cities; Townsville and Thuringowa. They are virtually indistinguishable and one runs into the other, so for ease I will call the whole area Townsville.

Townsville is a dynamic city with a vibrant CBD full of modern architecture and graced with beautiful heritage buildings seamlessly working together. The beautiful Ross River flows through the centre of town and stretches west where an ambitious Riverway project is under construction with kilometres of bikeways and cafes and community centres with water parks all centred around the the natural asset of the river.

Townsville is home to the Strand a beautiful string of parks and beaches that meander from the edge of the CBD to the end of North Ward. Along here you will always find people strolling along the walkways, lying on the beautiful beaches and children playing in the many parks and water parks. It is nothing less than a masterpiece of community amenity.

Townsville has a booming building industry, a leading national university, James Cook and of course the armed forces which both the Army and the Airforce have massive postings that are tipped to increase by 9000 more troops. This will help tighten the rental market and produce some decent short term capital gains. There is also a new cruise ship terminal which will boost Townsville's already substantial tourist market. Townsville is also home to Magnetic Island which is truly one of the most beautiful islands and is only a short hop from the city by ferry.

Many people choose to live here for the lifestyle and commute on the ferry to town. Townsville, Queensland's second biggest city has the vibrant cosmopolitan feeling that you would expect from a city with such a large and youthful population. All in all there is nowhere for the market in Townsville to go but up with the growth figures stated in the article (The Courier Mail - Thursday September 2, 2004) N.Q Population Rising see below, of population growth rates over 40% by 2026 higher than southeast Queensland.
